Conservatory (Lite)

Launching Fall 2026

Young Actors Theater Academy’s Conservatory (Lite) is a hybrid education program designed for middle and high school students who are passionate about the performing arts and thrive in a creative learning environment. Combining accredited online academics with professional conservatory-style theater training, Conservatory (Lite) allows students to pursue their artistic goals without sacrificing their education.

Created for students whose schedules, passions, and ambitions extend beyond the traditional classroom, Conservatory (Lite) offers a structured school day where academics and arts education work together rather than compete with one another. Whether students are balancing auditions, performances, or simply learn best through creativity and collaboration, Conservatory (Lite) is designed to support the whole artist.

Our Founding Semester

As Young Actors Theater Academy prepares to open its permanent home, our inaugural Founding Class will spend the Fall 2026 semester learning in a one-of-a-kind setting through our partnership with the Frisco RoughRiders.

Students will meet each Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM in the Owners Suite at Riders Field. This dedicated learning space provides a comfortable, professional environment while our permanent campus is under construction. Once the YATA Campus is ready, Conservatory (Lite) students will transition seamlessly into our permanent home, continuing the school year without interruption.

Academics That Fit Your Family

Families maintain the flexibility to choose the accredited online academic program that best fits their student’s educational needs.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, dedicated Homeroom & Academic Support periods are built directly into the school day between Conservatory classes. This allows students to complete their online academic coursework while also receiving professional, in-person performing arts training. Throughout the day, our Homeroom teachers are available to provide academic support, accountability, guidance, individualized assistance, and encouragement as students work through their lessons.

Students will continue their online academic coursework, as well as assignments from their Conservatory (Lite) classes, from home on Mondays and Fridays, creating a balanced hybrid schedule that supports both academic success and artistic growth.

Professional Performing Arts Training

Each school day is intentionally structured to provide focused conservatory instruction alongside academic support. Guided by experienced performing arts professionals, students learn in a collaborative, encouraging environment that emphasizes both artistic excellence and personal growth.

The curriculum is built around three foundational conservatory classes:

  • Acting Essentials
  • Vocal Lab
  • Dance Lab

Each Wednesday, students participate in an extended Master Class led by experienced teaching artists and guest professionals. While their daily conservatory classes focus on developing foundational performance skills, Master Classes provide the opportunity to take a deeper dive into specialized areas of theater through immersive, project-based instruction.

During the Fall 2026 semester, students will explore three featured Master Classes:

  • Acting: From Tradition to Technique
  • Directing: From Story to Stage
  • Playwriting: From Concept to Curtain

These focused studies encourage students to expand their artistic perspective, strengthen their creative voice, and develop a broader understanding of the collaborative process that brings theater to life.

Conservatory Production Class

A signature production experience is an integral part of Conservatory (Lite). Unlike the productions presented during our traditional theater season, the semester’s production is chosen specifically for its artistic merit and educational value, creating unique opportunities for deeper study, exploration, and growth.

The semester’s production becomes an extension of the classroom, giving students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a particular style of theater, playwright, composer, theatrical movement, genre, or performance technique. The selected material is designed to encourage deeper artistic study and exploration, exposing students to theatrical concepts and creative disciplines that extend beyond the scope of our traditional season.

Rehearsals are built directly into the Conservatory (Lite) schedule, allowing students to immediately apply what they are learning in class while exploring the material through performance. Rather than separating training from production, the two work hand in hand, creating a richer educational experience where every rehearsal reinforces the techniques, artistry, and creative discoveries taking place in the classroom. The semester will culminate with a public performance in December, celebrating each student’s artistic growth and the work they have developed throughout the fall.

The Conservatory (Lite) Production Class is designed to challenge students as thoughtful artists, encouraging them to deepen their understanding of the craft while developing the discipline, curiosity, collaboration, and creative confidence that define exceptional theater artists.

A Community Built for Young Artists

Conservatory (Lite) is more than an educational program. It is a community where creativity is celebrated, artistic curiosity is encouraged, and students are surrounded by peers who share their passion for storytelling, collaboration, and personal growth.

This distinctive educational experience is intentionally designed to develop not only skilled performers, but also thoughtful artists, confident communicators, compassionate leaders, and creative problem-solvers. Through accredited online academics, professional conservatory training, meaningful mentorship, and immersive production experiences, students are challenged to grow both academically and artistically in an environment that values excellence, discipline, and imagination.

Whether a student’s dream is a career on stage, a future in the creative arts, or simply an education that nurtures their unique talents, Conservatory (Lite) offers a place where learning and artistry exist side by side. Here, students don’t have to choose between academic success and artistic excellence. They are empowered to pursue both.
