After she is arrested for murdering her lover, Roxie finds herself in jail alongside Velma Kelly, a celebrated vaudeville star who is also accused of murder. With the help of the smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn, both women try to turn their criminal cases into opportunities for fame and public sympathy.
